Privacy Policy

LifeSift ("the app") is an iOS app published by DRM Ventures LLC ("we", "us") that helps you catalog and understand your personal and household documents. This policy explains what data the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you control. It applies to the LifeSift app and this website (lifesift.app).

Summary

• Your documents are stored on your device — and, only if you turn on iCloud Sync, in your private iCloud (CloudKit) database. We do not operate a database of your documents, and there is no LifeSift account.
• The free tier's AI features run entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. Nothing leaves your phone.
• Cloud "Advanced AI" features are part of the optional LifeSift Pro subscription and run only when you explicitly choose them for a specific document, after a consent sheet.
• Your documents are never used to train AI models — by us or by our AI provider.
• No third-party analytics, no advertising, no tracking SDKs. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device.

Your documents stay on your device

All scanned and imported documents — along with their summaries, extracted facts, key dates, and chat history — are stored locally on your iPhone. If you enable the optional iCloud Sync (off by default for new installs), this data is also stored in your private iCloud (CloudKit) database, which is managed by Apple, protected by your Apple Account, and accessible only to you. We cannot read it. Deleting the app removes all on-device data; iCloud data can be managed in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud.

On-device AI (free features)

Document summaries, categorization, fact and key-date extraction, and the Ask LifeSift chat on the free tier are performed on your device by Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models). These features make no network calls, and no document content leaves your device.

Advanced AI (LifeSift Pro)

"Process with Advanced AI" and "Ask About This Document" are optional, paid features that send a single document to the cloud only when you explicitly choose to, per document, after confirming a consent sheet that explains what will be sent. Nothing is ever uploaded automatically or in the background.

When you opt in, the document's content is sent over HTTPS to LifeSift's own server (a Cloudflare Worker at lifesift-api.drmventures.workers.dev), which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude models for processing. Anthropic acts as our data processor. The result — a streamed summary with structured extraction of dates, obligations, amounts, and entities, or an answer to your question — is returned to your device and stored only there.

• No training. Your documents are not used to train AI models.
• Deleted after your session. For "Ask About This Document," the uploaded document exists only for the duration of the Q&A session and is deleted when the session ends.
• Nothing persisted on our server. The processing server stores no document content — not in logs and not in storage. Server logs contain only operational metadata: the route called, token counts, and a hashed transaction identifier used for rate and budget limits.

Subscriptions and what our server knows about you

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). To authorize Pro requests, the app presents a signed App Store transaction; our server sees only a hashed original-transaction identifier. We never receive your name, email address, Apple ID, or payment details.

Data collected (App Store disclosure)

As disclosed in our App Store listing, the only data category involved is "User Content" (your documents), used solely for "App Functionality" — and only when you invoke an Advanced AI feature. It is not linked to your identity, is not used for tracking, and is not used for any other purpose.

Notifications

Key-date reminders are local notifications scheduled entirely on your device. No push notification service is used, and reminder content is never transmitted.

What we don't do

The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not sell or share your data, and no data brokers are involved. Face ID for the app lock is evaluated by iOS on your device and never leaves your phone.

Children

LifeSift is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your choices

• You can decline or simply never use Advanced AI — every free feature works fully on-device.
• Turn iCloud Sync and on-device AI features on or off anytime in the app's Settings.
• Manage or cancel LifeSift Pro in your App Store subscription settings.
• Manage reminder permissions in iOS Settings → Notifications → LifeSift.
• Delete documents in the app, or delete the app to remove all on-device data; manage iCloud data in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted at this URL (https://lifesift.app/privacy), and the effective date above will be updated.
